The Story of '97

A midweek visit to umpteen-pointss-clear-at-the-top Rangers, saw us going in hope, rather than expectation but that hope grew in the opening minutes when Monty headed us into the lead!
A Billy Findlay free kick was floated in to the penalty area, where it was met by Captain Courageous, who fought off the attention of two markers, to rise above them and nod the ball home, right in the corner of the net! 1-0 Killie!
It took the home side almost the rest of the first half to get level. A duff goal kick was won by some random Rangers bod. Let's say Laudrup, because it makes it better than giving it up to say a Bollan or someone of that ilk. Whoever it was, they played the ball through for Bo Anderson to fire past the unfortunate Lekovic.
Moments later, the home side got their penalty. As it was then, is now, and forever shall be...
Only, this time, Lekovic saved from renowned fishin' and chick'n enthusiast Paul Gascoigne.
HALF TIME: 1-1
After the break, the home side came out fired upand Killie paid a heavy price. Robertson & Anderson (twice) profiting from Laudrup's fine impersonation of a one man band. Mark Roberts made the score look slightly more respectable by robbing Petric & slotting home late in the day, but it wasn't enough for the Ayrshire side who remained bottom.
FULL TIME: 4-2
Team: Lekovic, MacPherson, Dylan Kerr, Lauchlan, Monty, Findlay, Mitchell, Reilly, Wright, Bagan, Alan Kerr.
Subs: McGowne, Roberts & Burke for Monty, Wright & Bagan
