killie in 1st division 2010-11

ok, financially it would be terrible, but in terms of going back to old fashioned gritty games, I think we would all enjoy them as opposed to same old spl shlte!!!.....

Bring on games against A*r, qos, thistle, pars, morton, dundee (hopefully inverness would go up if we went down) & drunken days away to dingwall...

then we can look forward to cup games like we used to do when we kicked above our weight!!

agreed it would be fun for the time being, good days out etc....

but it would ruin our club and you always want to be as high a level as possible, cups and europe.
Going down would be a huge backwards step that we may not recover from.

I've said several times that if finances were not an issue I couldn't care less about being in the first division. Ain't nothing special about the SPL.

95%+ of our games on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm, 4 A*rshire derbies a year, half a dozen teams or more I haven't seen us play again and again constantly for the last decade, looking to go out and win games and championships or to at the very least least be challenging at the right end of a division again and no scummy Old Firm fans coming to town.

There would be no downside to relegation outwith financial meltdown. Unfortunately that's a pretty big downside

First thing that would happen is we'd go part time so we might be lucky to even stay in Division One.

I'm bored senseless of the SPL.

1st division is categorically not an option to countenance though, for 9 million or more reasons.

We'll go into liquidation and maybe come back in some shape or form in the 3rd Division if we are lucky.

Aye relegation would be magic

1st division means we just canny service the debt. The bank are almost certain to pull the plug so administration.

MJ GTF and the £9m debt millstone written off, sadly a 15 point penalty so big problem avoiding div II

On the +ve side we would be much much more attractive to investors, so maybe not such a bad medium term outlook

we go down we die...no administration..no ifs, no buts, just lock the doors.

as much as from a footballing perspective it aint a bad thing, the spl is duller than ma grannys knitting football doesnt come into it when the bank pulls the plug.

Anyone who thinks there will be a killie next season if we go down is an idiot

The thing is that we will not go down, it cant happen and will not happen. The players however bad they are, there pride will not let it happen. I have every faith in them as you should. So come on and get behind them, im also sure the falkirk fans would prefer to be in our position.

No one knows what will happen if we go down in relation to the club. It would be a financial distaster with major changes and administration or liquidation both possibilities. It may also attract an investor as this would be an opportune time as taking the club from an administrator would mean most of the debt liability was not inherited, downside is a lot of the club assets may not be incuded (players, staff, hotel etc)

We are not relegated yet and if we go down it could be a disaster but there can also be life after it but there are risks.

Ambition for what exactly? Do I want us to get relegated? No, but only because it would kill us. My point is that from a footballing perspective I wouldn't care what Division we were in. I'd still go. And I enjoyed watching Killie in the Second and First Division a whole lot more that the last, oh, 5 seasons at least. You're supposed to enjoy football. Nothing can be worse than the exercise in futility and despair that is the SPL. Except for extinction of course, which take me back to where I started.

Completely agree with you Godflesh! I'm sick and tired of the SPL and what "supposedly" comes with it!
I don't buy into the "chase for europe" or top six/bottom six any more.
Like you I'd be much happier competing in a league with clubs of similar size and realistic aspirations.
If the drop to the first division could be managed financially, I'd be quite happy thank you very much!

If Killie fans moan their faces off at the likes of Taouil, Kyle, Fowler etc, God help us when they're faced with the standard of player part-time First Division football would bring us!

Have to admit going to the Partick-ICT game on Saturday as a last minute decision to sit in with the ICT fans with my flatmate.

Also have to admit it was one of the most enjoyable games i've watched in years. Terry Butcher really has got a superb team together up there who were pinging in cross after cross right across the six yard box, and the game would've been out of sight were it not for the brilliance of John Tuffey in the Partick goal (he can't catch though!), all this right in front of us. To Partick's credit, their close control and passing was excellent and they always looked dangerous when the score was kept down.

The second half was more of the same with a couple of world class saves from Tuffey again and a couple of goal mouth opportunities for Partick, and an inspirational gritty performance in the midfield from Russel Duncan. Add to this the legendary humour of the inverness fans and it really was a good day.

I could only gain the impression that as a package, and perhaps even in terms of skill on show, this game was miles above the quality of your average Killie SPL game. I know it would probably be a financial disaster for Killie, but purely in a football sense I think a season or two in this close yet open and exciting league would do us all good as fans.

its ironic that jamie adams and ryan o'leary who are both deemed inferior for our team at present are arguably playing for better teams at the top of the league with a good chance of bypassing us with promotion - from the dundee v qos match last week both these sides are as good if not better than Killie

It's worth remembering that Inverness are top of that division, and we slaughtered them in the cup.
