THE FLU BOWL
With half our team out with flu and flu-like symptoms, and the other half playing through a fever, we asked for a postponement of this fixture. The home side, no doubt quaking in their boots at the thought of a pounding by a fully fit Kilmarnock side, knocked the idea back.
So, with heads full of Beechams powders (other cold and flu remedies are available), we staggered up to Glasgow to face second placed Celtic. We had been hit so hard by the flu we even had to recall Gary Tallon who hadn't kicked a ball in anger since the first meeting against Celtic... in AUGUST.
I'm afraid to say, the result was fairly predictable. This would prove to be Mr Tallon's last ever game for us, after just five appearances.
Jorge Cadete got a hat trick, Jackie McNamara (of turning a sacking into a promotion fame), Morten Wieghorst & Chris Hay all scored for the home side as they put six past Killie with no reply.
Let us never speak of this again.
