Nish See's Red As Fighting Killie Go Down

Aberdeen 3 Kilmarnock 2

(SPL Match 17, Pittodrie, Dec 4th 2004, KO: 3:00PM)

A much improved battling Killie failed to take something from this match. Killie have now lost 3 on the trot and have not won in their last 5 SPL matches. One incredible stat from today was that ref  Kenny Clark called Killie for 29 fouls!! And we know we are NOT a dirty team. Manager Jefferies must have really told our lads to "get stuck in" today, which we most certainly did!

Killie, who lost at home to Livingston last week, made two changes to their line-up.

James Fowler and Gary Wales dropped out as Leven and striker Kris Boyd, who had been out for six games with a knee injury, returned to the side.

Killie manager Jim Jefferies also named former Rangers and Sunderland winger Allan Johnston in his starting line-up.

The home side went a goal down in the early stages with midfielder Danny Invincibile scoring after seven minutes.

The Australian side-footed a cross from ex-Scotland winger Johnston into the bottom corner.

But the Dons levelled a minute later through Pasquinelli - Steve Tosh sending a cross into the six-yard box, which the Argentine forward dived in to send past Combe.

Ex-Rangers player Peter Leven then brought the travelling Killie fans to their feet with a sublime free-kick, curling a left-footed effort into the top corner of David Preece's net.

The first half goals continued to flow as Pasquinelli grabbed his second of the afternoon on 31 minutes - thanks to a goalkeeping gaffe from Alan Combe.

The Killie keeper dallied on making a clearance for far too long and, eventually, his kick was charged down by Pasquinelli.

The pair then embarked on a furious race for goal, which the South American won despite the goalkeeper's best efforts to drag him down.

Aberdeen sealed the victory after 72 minutes with Chris Clark sending in a shot which found the net off the upright.

Killie ended the match with 10 men with Colin Nish, who was already on a yellow, seeing red after a flailing elbow caught Diamond.

Killie rallied towards the end, but could not break down the resilient Dons defence.

Kilmarnock: Combe,  Lilley, Dindeleux, Ford, Invincibile, McDonald, Johnston, (Wales 86 mins) Greer, Boyd (Naismith 78 mins) Nish , Leven,

Subs: Smith, Dargo, Murray, Fowler, Hay

Attendance: 11,139
