The
voting is now closed for our Young Player of the Year award and the
player that you want us to give the award is...
Right
up until the last day of voting it was neck and neck between Boom Boom
and Peter Canero, with Kris just edging ahead every time Peter caught
up. But in the end Kris finished with 46% of the total votes and Peter
just behind with 44%. Trailing in a distant third, but in no way a
reflection on his performances this season, was James Fowler with 5%.
James was followed by Gary McDonald and Sean Dillon both on 2% and
Stevie Murray with 1%.
Kris
is currently the top goalscorer at the club with eleven so far this
season, despite starting many games on the bench. Jim Jefferies stated
at the start if the season that Kris would be used sparingly so as not
to hinder his development in any way but any time that he's been called
upon the big man has produced the goods and I'll be very surprised if he
does not start a lot more games next season despite his age.
Peter
Canero is very unlucky not to be picking up any awards from us this
season as he has scored very well in both the polls we've ran.
Considering that he has been the club's sole (consistently picked)
representative for the under 21 national team and that he's also
featured in the majority of our matches this year he can consider him
self extremely unlucky to finish up empty handed, I'm more than sure
some of the other supporter's clubs will have selected Peter for their
award, and it won't be un-merited.
We
hope to present the award to Boydie at the end of season bash in the
Howard on Saturday the 24th, along with Stevie Fulton, but with the big
match against Celtic due the following day he may or may not be able to
attend. Our best bet for getting a few players along is if they are
staying in the hotel the night before the game like they have done
already this season, and the Travel Club dance is on the same night so
they could kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Whatever the case,
we'll make sure he gets it!
A
big thank you to Sandy Ferguson for letting us use his snaps to create
the montage above.
