Killie Get First Ibrox Win in 33 Years!

Rangers 1
Kilmarnock 2
(Scot Premier Division, Match 4,
Ibrox, Aug 28th 1993)
Newly promoted Killie having won their Premier opening
match, had just lost their next 2 matches.
Voices were raised about
Monty & Millen, trying to match-up against Mark Hately & Duncan Ferguson.
Rangers the Champions had not lost at home in 17 months... we were on "a
hiding to nothing".
Killie were making their first league visit to Ibrox since Jan 15th 1983
(when Sam McGivern's goal got Killie a 1-1 draw!).
Many of Killie's fans
had never been to Ibrox, so our 3,600 ticket allocation was snapped up
right away.

YTS
Teenager Mark Roberts (right) put Killie ahead in the 61st
min with a header, but Rangers fought back and Pressley nodded them level.
The game seemed destined to be heading for a draw!
But with almost six minutes of injury time having been played, substitute
Tom Brown robbed Pressley near the bye line, cut the ball back to fellow
substitute Ian Porteous, whose shot was only parried by Ally Maxwell, into
the path of Bobby Williamson, and Killie were 2-1 winners.
The Killie fans rejoiced ... and sang "Killie are back!"
over & over!
It was only Killie's 5th league win at Ibrox, and their
first since Nov 1960.
